Legal Update
The law suit by Roy Kasten, Caron House, Allen Dahm, Kip Loui, Darian Wigfall, and Courtney Dowdall against KDHX and the Board of Directors in which our side is arguing that Loui, Wigfall, and Dowdall were duly elected to the Board and should be seated, received an important boost on Thursday. KDHX lawyers had tried to get a judge to dismiss the case without a hearing, and the judge said, nope, let’s see what everybody has to say. So, the case moves forward, and we are excited to see the good guys get a day in court soon. As always, Daniel Hill is great in his coverage for the RFT.
Business Journal Editorials
If you have access to the St. Louis Business Journal, their new issue features editorials on KDHX. One was written by Board of Directors members Joan Bray and Ray Finney - under the title “KDHX changes have led to improvements, but station needs your help,” this piece doubles down on accusations that the DJs fired by KDHX were opposed to efforts to diversify the station. To make it very clear, this is a blatant lie - no mention was ever made of plans to bring in new DJs until after 13 people were fired and 20-something more quit or went on strike. If the plans had been mentioned, we would have agreed it was a good idea and worked together to make it happen.
The other editorial is by Darian Wigfall, one of the three people the Associate Members voted in to the Board of Directors last September, but Board President Gary Pierson has refused to seat. Darian’s piece, entitled “KDHX must stop weaponizing values of DEI” covers the history of efforts to diversify the station, including the work he did himself while employed there in 2018.
Next Time:
We should be able to get our regular news and notes and We Are All KDHX feature back on track. See ya then!
